A Doctor Returns Home
A native of Green and Springfield has returned to Green a doctor ready to serve summit and stark counties. Amanda Baum D.C. has joined Ragon Chiropractic Health Center and patients are happy!
Amanda Baum DC, began her collegiate journey at Kent State University, majoring in Exercise Physiology. She then went on to Palmer College of Chiropractic in Port Orange, Florida. While completing her doctorate, Dr. Baum specialized in Pediatrics, Neurology, Sports Therapy, Women's Health Issues and Applied Kinesiology (AK).
Upon graduation in 2010 with her doctorate as a Chiropractic Physician, she has joined Ragon Chiropractic and she is happy to be back in the Green area. "Generations of her family are from here and it has always felt like home," says Amanda. She has seen Green grow over the years and yet it has always had a close community feel where you still know your neighbors.
Dr. Baum has a passion to teach patients the importance of functional movement and to strive for optimal health. She says, "For patients that have been in chronic pain, on pain medicine, unable to perform or enjoy everyday activities, chiropractic care can be a miracle for them. It doesn't have to be a major life changing miracle, but being pain free or being able to play with your children without hurting could mean the world to someone that couldn't do it before. Pain is depressing and getting out of it will uplift your whole body, mind, and spirit."
Since joining the practice in November, many patients are asking for a secret to weight loss during this New Year. Dr. Baum's advice for a healthier 2011?
"Weight loss can be intimidating if you don't know where to start. There really is no big secret other than to get excited about it and see weight loss as a chance to get healthy and not a challenge that you have to overcome. Make your decision to get healthy a "lifestyle change" as opposed to a "diet" that is hard to follow and feels more like work than fun. Eat plenty of vegetables and fruits, with lean proteins and good fats (avocados, coconut oil, extra virgin olive oil, fish oils etc.) and stay away from unnecessary carbohydrates and refined sugars. Get in front of the pounds piling up against you and take charge of your new healthy life."
Dr. Baum takes her own advice. She is has just completed a 21-day cleanse along with her family. Her passion doesn't end with health care. Her other interests include hiking the metro parks, tap dancing and hanging out with her favorite side kick, her dog, Bernadine.
"When my daughter suffered from a head and neck injury and refused to let a doctor check her, Dr. Baum took the time to build trust. She liked Dr. Baum so much that she drew her a picture as a thank you." -Michelle Kemp
